Leonard has been heavily involved in the marching percussion activity since 1991, first as a student for the well-known Plantation High School Marching Band in Plantation Florida, then as a lead snare drummer for Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps in 1994 and 1996.

His instructional career began in 1998 at West Orange High School (Ocoee, FL). From 2000 to 2002, Leonard taught at East Lake High School (Tarpon Springs, FL), serving as caption head and percussion ensemble arranger during his tenure. He was the percussion arranger for the 2003 FMBC State Champion Citrus High School Band (Inverness, FL), winning top percussion placement as well as Overall Champion.

In 2005, he was appointed percussion caption head for the Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble (Tarpon Spring, FL) which placed 8th over all at BOA Grand Nationals. In 2006, he instructed the University of South Florida Herd of Thunder Marching Band drumline, and in 2007, he was on staff at Leesburg High School (Leesburg, FL). Since 2009, he has served as percussion caption head/battery arranger for Cypress Creek High School (Orlando, FL).

As a professional musician, Leonard has worked for The Walt Disney Company from 1999 to the present, performing in various groups throughout the Walt Disney World Resort including: The Tapestry of Nations/Dreams Parade (EPCOT), The Village Beatniks (Animal Kingdom), The Jammitors (EPCOT), Mo'Rockin (EPCOT), and The Giggle Gang and The Royal Majesty Makers (Magic Kingdom). 

Leonard has been influenced by amazing educators including: Joe Southard, David Carbone, John Campese, Mickey Hartzog, Rich Viano, Lee Hanson, Rudy Gowern, and a host of others. He is a proud endorser of Vic Firth and a Marching Percussion Specialist with Vic Firth since 2005.

Leonard is unconditionally committed to continue to bring excellence to pageantry arts percussion with the aim to elevate performance quality and passion for both indoor and outdoor percussion. He is very pleased and thoroughly excited to have been part of Ancient City since 2016 and currently serves as Battery Coordinator and Battery Arranger.
