Douglas has done everything from legit percussion with the Central Florida Symphony to character drumming at Epcot. Doug's drum set credits range from backing steel-drum artist Ray Holman to rocking Warped Tour with T13C. He is a highly sought after clinician and arranger in the world of marching percussion, having performed with some of the world's best: top bass for the Velvet Knights, snare for Santa Clara Vanguard, and quads for The Cadets. He has instructed for numerous Drum Corps including Blue Stars, Teal Sound, Kiwanis Kavaliers, and Magic of Orlando where he was named Percussion Caption Head prior to the corps going inactive.
Doug has degrees in math and psychology and instructed the University of Florida Drumline while he worked on post-baccalaureate music studies with Dr. Kenneth Broadway. When not busy with ACE, he is a math teacher and coaches boy's soccer at Bell High School in Bell, FL. Doug lives in Trenton with his wife Laura and their 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son. He is proud of the tradition they have started with ACE and can't wait to see what the future brings!
Laura attended UF and graduated with honors earning a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education (Fall 2000). During her tenure, she had the honor of being a drum major for the Marching Band. After graduation she taught middle school band and was selected as the First Year Teacher of the Year for Volusia County (2002). After 3 1/2 years of teaching she returned to graduate school at UF where she was the sole winner in the nation of the Sigma Alpha Iota National Graduate Conducting Scholarship and was featured in the fall edition of Pans Pipes magazine. She then earned a Master's Degree in Instrumental Conducting and was a High School Band Director for 5 years.
While teaching High School, her concert, jazz and marching bands all performed at the state level and earned superiors including a runner up state title with marching band. She and her husband Douglas also started indoor percussion groups at both St. Augustine HS and Boca Raton HS which earned impressive recognition in both FFCC and SFWGA. While living in St. Augustine, FL, she founded a toddler music class in April 2014 called "Music for Minis" which became very successful. In the summer of 2017, Laura returned to her hometown of Trenton, FL, and is currently the elementary school music teacher for the Gilchrist County School District.
