Chris koss

Program, Educational, and music ensemble coordinator

Since 1997, Chris has been a percussion performer, clinician, and educator throughout Florida. During the summers of 1997 and 1998, Chris was a member of the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle Corps Front Ensemble. From 1999-2002, he performed as a professional musician at the Walt Disney World Resort.

As an educator, Chris taught with several schools before joining the staff at Seminole High School in 2002, eventually becoming Percussion Director in 2009. During his tenure as director, Chris developed a nationally competitive and recognized percussion program, leading Seminole to a 5th place A Class finish at the 2012 WGI World Championships, Seminole’s first ever trip to the event. In the fall of 2013, he joined the staff at Tarpon Springs High School, the 2014 BOA Grand National Champion, 4 time BOA Grand Nationals Division Champion and 5 time BOA Grand Nationals Finalist. Chris served as indoor percussion visual designer and front ensemble arranger for the 2014 season at Tarpon Springs, a season that saw the ensemble achieve its first WGI promotion.

Chris is an active percussion adjudicator, having judged for FFCC, IPA, SCBDA, SFWGA, MEPA, and FMBC. From 2009 to 2014, he served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC). Chris hold a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. He is employed as General Manager with Starling Printing in Largo, FL. Chris is a proud artist with and endorses Innovative Percussion sticks and mallets, and Pearl Drums and Adams Musical Instruments.
